Photo: California Chief Service Officer Josh Fryday, Assemblymember Mike Fong, and East Los Angeles College President Alberto J. Román joined President Berenecea Johnson Eanes at Cal State LA to announce the recruitment of thousands of people throughout L.A. County to join the paid California Service Corps, the largest service force in the nation. During the March 23 press conference, President Eanes underscored the importance of the #CaliforniansForAll College Corps program and how its transformative impact extends well beyond the University.

During the Saturday morning program, President Berenecea Johnson Eanes commented that Cal State LA’s values aligned with those of the Olympics, underscoring the university’s commitment to fostering excellence and character development among its students.

As the first program of its kind in the nation, this ground-breaking sequence of classes will make game shows the focus of academic study. President Eanes delivered welcoming remarks during the festival’s opening reception.

Photo: President Eanes attended the Guardian Scholars Program Open House during National Foster Care Month. The Cal State LA Guardian Scholars Program provides advocacy, mentorship, and guidance that contributes to a positive, rewarding, and successful college-going experience for foster youth. 

In recognition of National Foster Care Month, the Guardian Scholars Office (SSB 4300) is providing blue ribbons through the end of May.

Photos: With her first 100 days culminating on May 7, 2024, Commencement 2024 was the ideal bookend to the first 100 days at Cal State LA that highlights President Eanes’ commitment to Cal State LA’s students and community. Spanning two days at the Los Angeles Convention Center, Commencement 2024 saw 5,700 Cal State LA students become Golden Eagle alumni.

President Eanes remarked, “Graduation is the best time of the year. It marks the culmination of hard work, dedication, and perseverance, and celebrates the endless possibilities that lie ahead.”
